Responsible to: VP Research

Role

The Scientist
will be part of the R&D team working at Cell Medica’s site in
Zurich-Schlieren, Switzerland. He or she will be expected to work both
independently and within a team and will contribute to the preclinical development
of gene-engineered CAR T and NKT cell products.

Research activities

• Develop
and optimize immunological and functional assays to characterize CAR T and NKT
cells phenotypically and functionally

• Work
cross-functionally with other project leaders and support activities related to
the development of CAR T cell products

• Use viral
vectors to transduce T and NKT cells

• Supervise
1-2 research associates

• Provide
expert advice to other researchers on flow cytometry and cell-based immunological
and functional assays

• Present
and interpret results at internal company meetings

Education and Experience

• PhD in
immunology or related field with 3 years equivalent experience in academic or
biotech environment is required

• Strong
expertise in human T cell biology is required

• Hands-on
experience in culturing, expansion and characterization of primary human immune
cells is required

• Strong
technical background in the field of flow cytometry and immunological assays is
required

• Demonstrated
ability to independently design experiments and analyse present results is
required

• Strong
molecular biology (cloning, PCR) and cell biology (immune cell isolation,
culture of human immune cells and tumor cells, transduction/transfection of
cells, DNA, RNA, and protein isolation) highly desirable

• Prior
experience with viral vectors and primary cell transduction would be an
advantage
