Cell Medica is a leading global cellular immunotherapy
company focused on the development, manufacturing and marketing of cell-based
therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and the reconstitution of immune

An opportunity is now available for an R&D scientist to
support preclinical research, analytical development and immune monitoring
activities at the laboratory facilities in London. With this position,
individuals can make an important contribution to advancing this exciting new
field of patient specific cellular therapeutics.

The R&D scientist will work under the direction of the
Principal Scientist to support preclinical R&D into novel cellular
immunotherapies. In addition, the R&D scientist will aid in the development
and validation of cell-based assays to understand and characterise cellular
immunotherapy products. The R&D scientist may also assist in immune
monitoring of patient samples from clinical trials and associated activities.
Note, occasional weekend work may be required.

• With the guidance of the Principal Scientist plan and execute preclinical R&D experiments

• Characterize T cell products and conduct experiments to investigate different aspects of T cell biology, including T cell proliferation and killing assays, T cell activation, cytokine secretion

• Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing immune cell therapy products

• Assist the R&D team in the immune monitoring of patient samples from adoptive T cell therapy clinical studies

• Accurately record and store laboratory generated data (protocols, laboratory notebooks, GCLP batch records, analysis files, reports, PowerPoint presentations)

• General laboratory housekeeping (including GCLP activities such as equipment monitoring)

• The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and running experiments at the bench as well as for putting together and making scientific presentations to senior management

• Required experience: primary cell culture (T cells), flow cytometry, ELISpot, proliferation assays, cell-based cytotoxicity assays, PBMC isolation from whole blood

• Additional highly desirable experience: molecular biology, viral vector technology, biomarker discovery, development and validation of analytical methods (specifically potency assays); experience of designing 6-8 colour flow cytometry panels and flow cytometry data analysis

• Experience working in a G(C)LP environment desirable

• Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word), and analytical/statistical software packages (e.g. Graphpad Prism, FlowJo)
