Responsible to: VP Legal Counsel


Cell Medica is a leading global
cellular immunotherapy company focused on the development, manufacturing and
marketing of cell-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and the
reconstitution of immune function. We are now seeking an experienced IP Paralegal
with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. In this role, you can make an important
contribution to the business’ management of IP, maintaining the Company’s IP
Portfolio, preparing patent documentation, improving processes and reporting as
required. The successful applicant will
also work closely with the Legal department, supporting contract compliance and
contract management efforts.



Manage deadline tracking, docketing,
database integrity, and portfolio management (ensuring that all relevant
deadlines are met in a timely manner)

Autonomously address administrative
issues and formal requirements associated with filing, prosecuting and
maintenance of patent rights

Assist in database transfer, in
completing data in the new data structure and in setting-up workflows

Assist in maintaining the global IP
portfolio by attending to maintenance and annuity fee payments

Assist in processing and managing
incoming/outgoing communications in connection with the company's patent

Preparing assignments and other
documentation related to filing and obtaining patent rights

Assist in generating timely IP
portfolio reports as requested

Professional conduct of formal
correspondence with Licensors/Licensees

Manage third party patent monitoring


Managing the company’s global
contract management system, including database transfer

Monitoring post-execution compliance
with company contracts

Assist in developing centralized
contract compliance system

Drafting, amending and negotiating
simple contracts (e.g. CDAs, basic service agreements, etc.)

Education and Experience

Familiar with current IP asset
management software programs

Familiar with contract management

Trademark experience desirable

Experience drafting, amending and
negotiating simple contracts (e.g. CDAs, basic service agreements, etc.)

Candidate must have excellent written
and verbal communication skills and be able to work both independently and as a
team player

Strong organizational skills, ability
to multi-task and high attention to detail

Fluency in English

Personal Attributes

At least two years of equivalent experience
as a patent paralegal, preferably in an in-house environment

Bachelor degree or completed
commercial training or equivalent

Paralegal certificate/equivalent IP
certification preferred (CIPA Patent Administration preferred)
